Isaiah 58:8 states: "For my [God's] thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways."
You can say that again. The disparity I observed between those who God treated well and those he tortured (or allowed to be tortured) was so extreme that I finally could not continue to make excuses for God. I also could no longer attribute any of my good fortune to God's beneficence.
I have to wonder what Muslims mean when they repeat, ad nauseam, "Allah Akbar" (God is great.) God, if he exists, certainly has a great ego and temper. He is a proficient torturer. He has a mystifying ability to cover his tracks. So perhaps he is "great" after all.
