Hawking: Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet


Stephen Hawking gave a thought-provoking speech at Cambridge recently.  A few points stood out to me:
"It has been a glorious time to be alive, and doing research in theoretical physics. Our picture of the universe has changed a great deal in the last 40 years and I’m happy if I have made a small contribution."
"I want to share my excitement and enthusiasm about this quest. So remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious, and however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up."
